Global Green Destinations Days 2018 – Creating Better Places Together
For the 3rd time, at the occasion of World Tourism Day, Green Destinations organizes the world’s leading event for business and destination leaders, managers and experts committed to sustainable tourism: Global Green Destinations Days. This year’s edition of the Global Green Destinations Day will be held in Nijmegen on 27 and 28 September.
The objective of GGDD 2018 is to give destination and business leaders a unique opportunity to meet many international colleagues; to discover practical tools and solutions, to become inspired to “create better places together” – and to better support local business and stakeholder communities back home. The two days prior to GGDD we organize the first Global Leaders Conference, to be held at 25 and 26 September in Arnhem, The Netherlands. With participants from over 40 countries, we are looking forward to meeting the world during our conference.
The 1st Global Leaders Conference and the Global Green Destinations Days 2018 are organized with the great support of the Province of Gelderland, the city of Nijmegen, ANVR, CSR The Netherlands – Tourism and VKKR.
Global Green Destinations Days throughout the years
Only three years ago, we started with the Global Green Destinations Days. The first edition was in 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2016, Ljubljana was the 2016 Green Capital of Europe. The event was organized with the great support of Ljubljana Tourism, the Slovenian Tourist Board, Quality Coast, and Good Place. More than 300 guests from many different destinations around the globe came together to discuss sustainability in destinations.
On 5 July 2017, Green Destinations and QualityCoast organized a festive and informative Dutch Green Destinations Day in collaboration with the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland in Renesse. Another, this time Italian, Green Destinations Day was organized in Rimini, Italy. Organized by Green Destinations, CAST – Center for Advanced Studies in Tourism and the Agency Strategic Plan of Rimini, the event was a great success, with participants from the public and private sector as well as students of Tourism and Sustainable Development from the University of Bologna.
Our Global Green Destinations Days 2017 was held in Cascais, Portugal. From the 28th till the 30th of September our Global Green Destinations Days 2017 took place in the frame of “GREENFEST” – a large yearly Portuguese public event on sustainability, attracting 4000-6000 visitors daily. One of the topics of the 2017 edition was “Green Travel”. At this event, the leading destinations in the field of sustainable tourism presented and shared their success stories and good practices. Global Green Destinations Days 2017 was organized with the great support of the City of Cascais, Green Destinations, Greenfest, Travelmole and VISION on sustainable tourism.
